    • The sort of overview that only seems to make you aware of how little you know. I come away from this feeling as if I have only skimmed across the surface of the subject, but I suppose it's hard to communicate centuries of culture in a few hundred pages. Also, readers should bear in mind that some of the content about Sufism in the modern world is out of date due to the large amount of change that has occurred in the middle east in the past decade or two.

    • My entry into Islam actually. I like Ernst's introduction. He is deeply sympathetic with the tradition and he understands how to present Sufi's elegance in an effective way despite of all of legacy in the western scholarship. In such a period when the country is troubled by unfair charge of Muslims, reading such a book opens a door to me somehow.
